The charity (English)

The charity we have chosen to support is the Young Ones Skills & Training Centre (YOSTC).

In conventional aid schemes very often young people in the age from 14 to 24 are ignored. To give these people a chance to get a better life, the Dutch foundation Hand to Hand  has established YOSTC. This gives them the possibility to learn a trade and to earn their own income. Examples are wood working, metal working, a car work shop or sewing.

The YOSTC operates in Gambia, where many young people are willing to work, but can not find a job. They never learned to read or write and often all they own is the clothes on their body. Offering them a real perspective is a way to not only help the individuals but also increase the development potential of the country.

The organization of the Amsterdam-Dakar challenge has made it very easy to help, at least for those who read and understand Dutch, by the 'Adopt A Hero' programma. One can print out a form  on which the details of our team can be filled in:
Teamnummer: 1122
Teamnaam: De Graaff
Project: Gambia III, Young Ones Skills & Training Centre
If the form is too much of a challenge, please do not hesitate to ask for help.

Do not hesitate to help, even the smallest amounts are welcome!
